Indexing does not start with entering keywords into a plugin. Search engines first need to discover a stable URL, crawl it, understand its canonical version and decide whether it belongs in the index. Ranking can only happen after those technical steps are working.
Separate discovery, crawl, indexing and ranking
A URL can be discovered without being crawled, crawled without being indexed, and indexed without ranking well. Diagnose the exact stage instead of treating every visibility problem as the same issue.
Plan final readable URLs before launch
Prefer stable descriptive paths such as /web-design/ over temporary IDs, random strings or changing technical aliases. If an old URL has already been discovered, changing it becomes a migration.
Migrate URLs with permanent redirects
Map each valuable old URL to its real replacement, use a permanent 301 or 308 redirect, update internal links, sitemap entries, canonicals and hreflang references, and avoid redirect chains.
Use Search Console URL Inspection correctly
Inspect the new canonical URL, test the live version, confirm that crawling and indexing are allowed, then request indexing for important changed pages. Repeated requests do not make Google crawl faster.
Do not promise a 72-hour indexing deadline
Google states that recrawling can take from several days to several weeks and a request does not guarantee indexing. Search Console performance reporting can also appear with a separate delay, so distinguish crawl status from reporting latency.
Keywords still matter, meta keywords do not
Google does not use the meta keywords tag. Focus-keyword fields in SEO plugins are editorial aids. Use the language customers actually search for naturally in titles, headings, copy, links and image descriptions without keyword stuffing.
Align title, H1 and meta description
Give each page a clear unique title and a main heading that describes the same intent. A meta description should summarize the page for users, not become a comma-separated keyword list.
Write ALT text for meaning and accessibility
Describe informative images in context. Use an empty alt attribute for decorative images. Do not stuff ALT text with repeated keywords.
Prevent cannibalization with a clear content hierarchy
Use a broad hub for the category, specific service pages for transactional needs and guides for informational questions. Do not create a new URL for every small phrase variation.
Make canonical, sitemap, robots and hreflang agree
A target page should return 200, be crawlable, avoid accidental noindex, use the intended self-canonical, appear under the same URL in the sitemap and receive direct internal links.
Measure Core Web Vitals without breaking the design
Use field data where available and investigate LCP, INP and CLS separately. Do not delete CSS or JavaScript blindly just to chase a laboratory score.
Audit after publication
Check redirects, final canonicals, indexed status, internal links and performance again after deployment. Technisches SEO is a release process, not a one-time checkbox.
