Product infographic without clutter: what to show and what to remove

Choose three to five decision-relevant facts and turn them into a clear visual hierarchy instead of copying the entire product description onto one slide.

A product infographic works when it can be understood within a few seconds. If the graphic requires zooming in, reading six paragraphs and hunting for where the arrows lead, it has stopped doing its job.

Start with the buyer’s questions

Do not ask “what can we write?”, ask “what does the customer still not know after seeing the packshot?”. For shelving this may be load capacity, shelf adjustment, surface protection and assembly. For a backpack it may be capacity, laptop compartment, water resistance and cabin-baggage dimensions.

Limit the amount of information

One graphic should usually have one topic and 3-5 strong points. If there are more features, make a second slide instead of shrinking the type.

Hierarchy instead of decoration

  • the product is the largest element,
  • feature headings are short,
  • the description adds only what the icon cannot explain,
  • leader lines point precisely to the element they describe.

Do not enter data you have not verified

If the manufacturer did not provide load capacity or a material class, do not invent a number. A sales graphic must not become a source of incorrect specification data.
